BEACHES & SEA
Here you will find long stretches of sandy coastline that brilliantly alternate with rocky cliffs. The sea, with its beautiful seabed, is an open invitation for a very pleasant swim and offers an exceptional scenic effect. In addition to the splendor of the natural landscapes, the beaches of Gallipoli are full of establishments able to offer good music, excellent aperitifs, and numerous sports activities.
In the evening, the beach clubs change their appearance and turn into real elegant discos by the sea, where you can party and have fun in the company of lots of beautiful people.
For the more romantic, staying up late also means enjoying the spectacular sunset over the sea, with the red sun caressing the Ionian Sea and offering a few minutes of pure emotion. One of the most popular places in Gallipoli remains Baia Verde, undoubtedly among the most charming. In summer, many holidaymakers flock to the approximately three kilometers of Baia's beach, and many enjoy the exciting sunset from here.
Another beautiful beach is Punta della Suina, a small paradise that has received yet another international recognition from the prestigious British newspaper “The Guardian”, which names ‘Punta della Suina’ as “one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe.”
The famous beach on the Ionian coast is compared to the Seychelles, “with multicolored waters and soft white sand. It is – as the article states – an area dotted with small rocks and clumps of succulent plants. The crystal-clear water is slightly warmer than the Adriatic coast side.” A few kilometers from Punta della Suina “there is ancient Gallipoli which is so evocative that it is worth stopping there and driving or cycling.”
Also very interesting are some locations a few kilometers from the city, such as Lido Pizzo and Porto Selvaggio.
